In this video, Dr. Chuck recounts an experience that a friend shared with him where he knew that God was there with him during a difficult time.
God's Angels Are Watching Over You
Dr. Chuck: Here’s today’s spoonful of courage. I had a friend, we’ll call him Jim for confidentiality purposes, and Jim had head and neck cancer and had to have radiation to his tongue and mouth. And I was talking with Jim one day, about a year after he finished radiation, and he was sharing some of his experiences and he said “Chuck, you’re not going to believe this, but I had this weird experience when I was on the on the table.”
If any of you know about how radiation works, they put you in this room, they isolate you because they’re shooting these beams of x-rays through you. Gamma rays, actually, through your mouth. They strap you down, they hold you still, and he said, “you know, as I was going through that process, you know i’m very claustrophobic,” and he said, “my wife got me these these worship tunes and I put these worship tunes on, and they pushed the button and then they began to start the radiation. And as the radiation began to start, I began to hear this grinding sound. That’s when I know they were beginning to shoot the gamma rays through me.” And he said, “during this process, when this began to happen, I began to worship and I began to sing those worship songs that my wife gave to me.” And he said, “several times during my radiation treatments, I would hear this singing as I was singing out loud. I would hear this singing. Of course, I couldn’t move, I was strapped. And there was this person that was singing there in the room.”
You know, I want to remind you that when you’re going through a difficult time, a difficult circumstance, you may not see God, but God is there. His angels are watching over you, and as you begin to practice the presence of God, that he will be there and he will watch over you in his grace. That he will walk with you through these difficult times. You know, I mean there was a time in Jim’s life when he knew that God’s presence. He just almost palpated him, that he knew he was there in the process, and I want to remind you that God is there. What things are you doing to practice the presence of God? Maybe singing, maybe reading the scriptures. I want to remind you, whatever circumstance you’re going through, that God is there and that he is working.
