In an enchanting story for children, Dr. Page shares an African father, Bambo, relating to his sons, Azi and Padso, the history of the Baobab – or Upside Down – tree they encounter on a trip along the Zambezi River. Azi immediately climbs the unique tree, but Padso is frightened of the challenge. With his father’s guidance Padso eventually climbs the Baobab tree and see the wonders of the world. When he climbs down his father offers reassurance and love for both his sons – in bonds of beauty.
Both the story and the illustrations are superb – a fine tale for reinforcing unconditional love between parents and children – and beyond! Recommended. Grady Harp, August 22

“Climbing the Upside Down Tree: An African Tale of Adventure, Courage, and Unconditional Love” by Charles Page is a sweet story of an African father. He takes his children with him to the jungle and shows them animals, tells them stories, and teaches them great lessons of love, courage, and self-believe.
For kids, this book has easy to understand language and attractive illustrations so they can easily visualize the events and adventure.
The book is short, has a great uplifting story, and can be finished quickly with kids.
Besides, I feel it is an excellent way to show new fathers how they can make a great bond with their children and strengthen their relationship. Definitely recommended.
Thanks for all those positive comments about Padso and the life lessons he learns climbing the Baobab tree.

Climbing the Upside-Down Tree: An African Tale of Adventure, Courage, and Unconditional Love by Charles W. Page is a fantastic story for families to enjoy together. The story focuses on a young boy and through him we are able to learn many lessons about being a man, being a father, and being a son. The illustrations do a great job of bringing the story to life, and the variety of animals will get young readers to love reading and engage them in the story. I read this with my six-year-old son, and he really enjoyed it. I can see this being a great way for families to bond or as a read aloud bedtime story.

Climbing the Upside Down Tree is one of the
sweetest books I have ever seen. The story of Padso
teaches about boys’ and men’s issues and, while reading it, young readers will get to learn about bravery, growing up, facing challenges, and asking for help, all this while the main character struggles to climb the tree.
This storyline takes us on a joyful trip that
teaches important life lessons about the family and about father and son’s realtionships in general through a graphic story that makes a perfect gift for any type of reader. I loved the illustrations which have been ultra-carefully hand drawn. A great children’s book!

Thus book was short and sweet. My 7year old and 5 year old liked the story. As their father is from Africa, I like to find traditional tales and stories that encompass the way of life there. Thus book was a sweet story surrounding courage, a fathers love and acceptance. The illustration is black and white but that does not distract from the story. I liked reading this book to my children.
